They say that a family that eats together, stays together. The Darcy family have taken it to the next level by working together as a family, too. Across all levels of the business, the family work together – obviously a recipe for success if the Precinct Hotel, Motel Nightclub and South Wharf’s Melbourne Public and Citizen Café are anything to go by.
For the past forty years, the Darcys have been publicans of a number venues in South Australia and Victoria. Since David retired from a successful VFL football career in the 60s, Janet and David have run their businesses and raised four children.
The Darcy siblings were all bitten by the hospitality bug from a young age and work across the scope of the venues. When Luke Darcy is not commentating, breakfast radio show hosting or selecting for AFL, he is working on the planning and marketing strategies across the venues. Matt has over 20 years experience both here and overseas and his new focus is Melbourne Public and Citizen Café. Alysha has worked across advertising and television. And after a stint in New York, Kim has returned to the fold to focus on the businesses in operations, marketing and PR.
The Darcys have all areas of the business covered and their passion shows no sign of diminishing with this fantastic family dynamic palpable at South Wharf.
