The posters are up and Melbourne Town Hall is lit in rainbow hues – must be Melbourne International Comedy Festival time! With hundreds of shows, it can be hard to choose which to see. We recommend mixing it up with both comedians that you know and are yet to discover!

2. Karl Chandler’s Got Talent!

This king of the one-liner is turning his hand to a narrative show. You may not have heard of Karl Chandler but you’ve almost certainly heard his jokes – he’s a regular writer for many TV shows.

3. Harley Breen – The secret to being awesome

Harley Breen is a bloody good bloke.

4. Celia Pacquola – Let me know how it all works out

Expect fabulous observations and stellar delivery.

were a poet, a doctor or a bloke?

12. Fiona O’Loughlin – My Brilliant Career

Multi-award-winning first lady of Australian comedy – Fiona O’Loughlin is not to

be missed.

Award-winning comedian and actress not even half as innocent as she looks.

Rising star – awkward rising star. Most excellent.

15. Oliver Clark Comeback Special

Smooth moves and crooning in a velvet suit – feel-good comedy with double

entendres.

16. Ronny Chieng – Chieng Reaction

Another rising star with a quick wit and a law degree.

17. Ryan Coffeey is Howlin’

Not many people can be charming and offensive and enigmatic at the same time.

Ryan can. He can also write songs, tango with a loop pedal and make you laugh.

Also has impressive beard – perhaps best in festival?

18. Sarah Kendall – Touchdown

Award-winning comedian and ex-under14s touch football player.

19. Simon Godfrey – The earth is flat

If you like your comedy geeky, weird, clever and endearing, this is worth trying.

20. Tom Gleeson – Quality

Fabulous story-teller, quick wit, effortless. A sure-fire winner.

21. Lords of Luxury – After dinner mint

Dapper lads making you laugh.
