Good Beer Week – what an excellent excuse to celebrate fantastic beer from all over the world, and right here in Australia.
The self-guided tour on Saturday 17 May 2014 includes masterclasses and tastings with brewers and our own resident beer experts. Try beers from Spain, Thailand, Mexico and our own local brews from Australia.
You’ll receive a map and six tokens to use as entry to these fantastic events.
Chihuahua Bar: Mexican Beer Cocktail Masterclass from 3-4pm – 1 token
Hola amigos!!! Join us in our funky new Mexican tequilery as you learn how to make your own Mexican beer cocktail.
Available for the token exchange all day will be Mexican Sol, along with a food special.
Plus 5: Coopers Stout Parallel Tasting 3-6pm- 1 token
Join us at Plus 5 as the guys from Coopers Brewing show us that Stout can be for everyone. Stout is often the friend of the serious beer drinker, but we reckon it can be enjoyed by anyone. Our mates from Coopers will talk you through a tasting of aged stout and best stout, whilst pairing it with food you may not be expecting.
Aged in the Keg and brewed fresh, the two stouts present extreme and interesting characteristics, get ready for something you may not have tasted before.
Offering: Two tastes (appox 100ml) of stout and a food pairing.
Gasolina: “Hunting Safari” from 3-6pm – 1 token
Come to Gasolina and put your skills on display as you hunt the kill and skin the hide, Gasolina is putting together a Good Beer Week pizza and beer competition not to be missed! Join us for a wild hunt during the beer safari at Gasolina and enjoy an afternoon of gaming on the open plains of “Big Buck Hunter”.
The competition begins at 3pm and participants in the kill will be offered an afternoon of James Squire craft beer tasting with the Squire team paired with our most amazing pizza yet the “Big Buck”, a venison pizza paired with James Squire’s original American Ale “Hop Thief”. Winner of the competition will get a dinner for two at Gasolina valued at $50.00.
Common Man: Schooled in Craft Beer with The Common Man from 4-5pm – 1 token
Learn the art of developing a craft beer under the guidance of our Lion Craft Beer Ambassador. Build your own brew as you crush up your own barley, add hops, yeast and top with water.
Learn how to make your versions of amber ale, pale ales, lagers etc. Drink the real deal whilst you blend your own.
Sessions run for 45 mins.
Melbourne Public: Pale Ale Master Class with Matilda Bay from 5.15-6pm- 1 token
Matilda Bay brewers will guide you through the flavours and tastes of Pale Ale including;
- Alpha (Indian)
- IGP (Australian)
- Fat Yak (American)
Food tastings to match will be prepared by Melbourne Public’s Head Chef, Emma Wing-Tang.
Stay on for the live acoustic session with Tim Rizzoli at 5pm followed by the Jason Singh Duo at 9pm and DJ Scotty until late.
Any tokens remaining at the end of the evening can be used in host venues or participating venues: Akachochin, BangPop, Meat Market, Vessel Bar and Bohemian for more food and beer tastings.
